What is paint correction?

Your paint's top layer, the clear coat, picks up fine scratches from washing, brushes and grit. In the sun they show up as spiderweb swirls and a dull, hazy look.

Paint correction levels that clear coat with machine polishers and polish, a tiny bit at a time, until the scratches are gone and light reflects cleanly again. It removes the damage instead of filling it in.

The fingernail test

Scratches deep enough to catch a fingernail, rock chips and peeling clear coat need touch-up paint or a body shop. We'll tell you honestly before we start.

What it fixes.

Swirl marks

The spiderweb rings you see in direct sun, mostly from car washes and dirty towels.

Light scratches

Marks that sit in the clear coat. If your fingernail doesn't catch, we can usually take it out.

Oxidation & dull paint

Florida sun leaves paint chalky and flat. Polishing cuts back to fresh, glossy clear coat.

Water spots

Hard water and sprinkler spots that have etched in and won't wash off.

Bird & bug etching

Dull marks where droppings or lovebugs sat too long in the heat.

Buffer trails

Hazy holograms left by a rushed polish job somewhere else.

LEVELS

How much correction?

Not every car needs the same amount of polishing. We check your paint and suggest the level that fits it.

One-step polish

A single polish that brings back gloss and takes out the lightest swirls. Great for newer cars and lightly used paint.

Removes: About half of the light defects

Most cars

Two-step correction

A cutting stage to take out swirls and scratches, then a finishing polish for full gloss. The right fit for most daily drivers.

Removes: Most swirls and light scratches

Three-step correction

Two cutting stages and a finishing polish, panel by panel, for heavily swirled or neglected paint and show cars.

Removes: As close to perfect as the paint allows

THE PROCESS

How we correct your paint.

Most of the care goes into prep and checking, so we only remove what the paint needs.

    01

    Inspect under light

We look at the paint under bright lights with you and measure it, so we know how much clear coat there is to work with.

    02

    Wash & decontaminate

Hand wash, iron remover and clay bar, so no grit gets dragged around by the polisher.

    03

    Tape & test spot

Trim and edges get taped off. We test a small section to find the gentlest pad and polish that does the job.

    04

    Cut & polish

We work panel by panel, checking the result under light as we go.

    05

    Wipe & check

A panel wipe strips the polish oils so you see the true finish, with nothing hiding the scratches.

    06

    Protect it

Corrected paint needs protection. We finish with a sealant or, for years of protection, a ceramic coating.

If your paint looks dull or swirled in the sun, yes. It's the only way to actually remove swirls instead of hiding them, and it makes a bigger difference to how a car looks than anything else we do.

Wax and glazes fill swirls in for a few weeks, then wash out and the swirls come back. Paint correction removes them for good by leveling the clear coat. Wax hides the damage; correction takes it away.

A one-step uses a single polish to boost gloss and remove light swirls. A two-step adds a cutting stage first, so it removes much more: most swirls and light scratches.

It removes scratches that sit in the clear coat. If a scratch catches your fingernail, it has likely gone through the clear coat and needs touch-up paint instead.

Usually, yes. Spots that sit on top come off in the wash and decontamination. Spots that have etched into the clear coat polish out. Very deep etching can leave a faint mark, and we'll tell you before we start.

Usually the same day, from a one-step up to a three-step. A big vehicle or heavily damaged paint can take longer.

Done properly, yes. We measure the paint first and only remove as little clear coat as needed to take out the defects.

Often, yes, just a light one. New cars pick up swirls at the dealer from quick washes and dirty towels. A one-step polish takes them out, and it's the right time to add a ceramic coating.

Yes. A coating seals in whatever is under it, so correcting the paint first means it locks in a clean, glossy finish instead of the swirls.

The correction itself is permanent, but new swirls come back with careless washing. Hand washing and a ceramic coating keep it looking corrected for years.

Yes. Spinning brushes and cloths drag grit from other cars across your paint, and that's where most swirls come from. A careful hand wash with clean mitts and towels keeps corrected paint looking corrected.
